Evaluation of blog experience

The experience of blogging in an english class has been a personal challenge. I had never have a blog, neither in Spanish nor in English so I had to learn from the beginning how it works. Firstly it was difficult to write again in english because it was a full last year without learning or practicing anything about english. Lately the rules of grammar and how to pronounce the words it was the most difficult for me. So, when I started to write blogs I was afraid about don't writing them correctly but it was easier when I knew I can write about topics that interest me. It has made it easier for me to write the correct words. That is why my writing skills have developed in part, although I feel they could be developed further during the next English course. In my future I would like to write in English about different topics of my interest like music, series and something I love as cultural events.

My favourite food... to cook for myself

I have never had many opportunities to cook, and when I have done, almost always have been anecdotes to share with my friends, from from putting salt instead of sugar in a cake to almost burning a cake in the oven that my family have. So, I stopped of experiment in the kitchen until I discovered that the sopaipillas my family cook are easy to do. Sopaipillas are a mass of wheat flour which can have pumpkin or other ingredients, fried with oil. You can eat them putting mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, tomato and even avocado! I remember cooking sopaipillas with my grandmother since I have memory. Every winter I go to her house. We meet in the kitchen while we hear tango music and coordinating to do the dough and fry it. Our specialty is putting a cut of pumpkin in the dough and also make happy faces instead of just holes. Then we put the sopaipillas in the oil and melted butter to give them even more flavor. The process it is not finished until we remove the excess oil wi...

My Indignation

I tend to be a very positive person, I prefer to see the glass half full in the face of each situation, but if there is a situation that upsets me, it is that the basic rights of people are transgressed, especially if those people are children or old people. One of these cases are the low pensions that retired people receive, which shrink even more with the excessive cost of the medicines they need to use daily. I remember a TV report where you could see the elderly people collecting the fruit and vegetable waste left by fair sellers, that image had a great impact on me, seeing people in their 60s bending over to pick up leaves of lettuce in poor condition  to prepare some kind of food. It was an image that was impregnated in my mind. I find  it hard to believe that such situations occured in a developing country that boasts of being a member of the OCDE and a leading Latin American country. If there are people who must eat from the garbage because the money from the...

A subject you've enjoyed studying this semester

My favorite subject during this year was "Television and education: the pedagogical role of the media" with one of my favorite teachers: Cristian Cabalin. In this course we learned to link communication and pedagogy, through the education delivered by the television programs that the audience watch. In our final work we analyzed the cartoon series "Diego and Glot" from the perspective of how this series influenced the education of children, adolescents and adults. The contents of the course were learning techniques for children, television programs of high audience and the role of television in the family. Although it was only 8 sessions, I loved all the learning I got, since this is the area in which I want to specialize as a journalist, educating people through the media. This work I did together with one of my best friends from the University, Andres and we had a lot of fun listening to the music of one of our favorite series, Amango....
